Effective 12 August 2026. These terms govern the free Myne beta — the hosted sync service at sync.myne.md, the web app at app.myne.md, and the desktop and mobile apps that use them.
The beta is free and takes no payment. There is no warranty and no service level — software this young breaks. If you lose your password and your recovery phrase, your notes are gone permanently, and nobody can recover them. When the beta ends your account keeps working; a paid tier, if one ever exists, will be a choice and not a condition. And if the service ever shuts down, you get 90 days' notice with export working the whole time.
A free, non-commercial test of software still in development. No payment is taken, no subscription exists, and nothing on this service is sold to you. That is not a temporary promotion — it is the basis on which the service is currently offered, and much of what follows rests on it.
You must be at least 16 years old to use Myne. That is the age at which consent to data processing is valid under German law.
An account is a 20-character number, generated on your device. We ask for no email address, no name and no payment details — which means we also have no way to identify you if you lose access, and no way to verify that someone contacting us is you.
You are responsible for keeping your password and your recovery phrase. They are the only things that open your notes.
If you lose your password and your recovery phrase, your notes cannot be recovered. Not by you, and not by us.
This is not a support limitation that a determined request could get around. Your keys are derived on your device from secrets we never receive; what we hold is ciphertext we have no key for. There is no reset link, no security question and no administrative override, because building one would mean holding a key — and holding a key would mean being able to read your notes, and being compelled to.
Write your recovery phrase down and keep it somewhere safe. It is the entire backup plan.
The service is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. There is no uptime commitment, no support commitment and no guarantee that a given feature keeps working the way it does today. Data loss caused by a bug is possible; keep your own backups. The app can export everything you have, and doing so occasionally is a reasonable habit during a beta.
Myne’s AI can propose changes to your own notes, and create new ones. Nothing is written without you approving it: you see each change as a diff and approve it, either on its own or as a batch you chose. A change that would take a note out of your note list always needs its own separate approval and can never ride along inside “approve all”.
Before applying anything, an agent run records a restore point for every note it is about to change, and if that record cannot be taken the run does not apply at all. One press then reverts the whole run. Notes the run created are the exception: there is no earlier version to return to, so removing one is something you do yourself.
Within that, the no-warranty section above applies here too, and the same advice with it: keep your own exports. What a model proposes is not something we can vouch for, and approving a change is your decision.
Each account gets 250 MB of encrypted storage. Ask and we will raise it, free — write to hello@myne.md. There is no limit on the number of accounts the service accepts.
Rate limits apply per account, to keep the service available. They are not billing mechanisms and there is nothing to buy your way past.
We cannot see your content, so we do not filter it in advance — and we could not if we wanted to. There is no scanning, no automated review and no proactive detection of anything, because everything stored here is encrypted with keys we do not hold.
When a substantiated report reaches us, what we can do is act at the account level: freeze the account, or delete it. We cannot remove one note and leave the rest, because we cannot tell them apart. The reporting procedure is on the notice page.
We may freeze or delete an account that is being used for something in the list above, or where a legal obligation requires it. A freeze blocks writing and leaves reading intact, so a frozen account can still be exported.
Your account keeps working. The end of the beta is not an expiry date: accounts and their data carry on exactly as they are. If a paid tier appears later, it will be an option you can take or leave — not a gate that closes in front of data you already have.
We are stating this because the opposite has happened to people. When a well-known encrypted service shut down in 2024, its users found that nothing in its terms had promised them anything at all.
Should we ever stop running the hosted service, you get at least 90 days' notice. Throughout that period the service stays reachable and export keeps working, so you can take your notes with you.
After that, you are still not stuck: the server is open source under the AGPL, and the client can point at any server you run. A shutdown on our side ends our hosting, not your ability to use Myne.
Donations are welcome and buy nothing. Donors get no badge, no early access, no priority support, no additional storage and no influence over what gets built. The service is identical for everyone, whether they have donated or not.
This is deliberate and it is the line that keeps a donation a donation. The moment a contribution bought something in return, it would stop being a gift and start being a purchase — with everything that follows from that.
We are liable for intent and gross negligence, and for injury to life, body or health, under the statutory rules. For ordinary negligence we are liable only for breach of an obligation essential to the purpose of this agreement, and then limited to the damage typically foreseeable for a service of this kind. Because the service is provided free of charge, German law limits liability further; nothing here is intended to extend beyond what the law provides.
Mandatory statutory liability, including under the Produkthaftungsgesetz, is unaffected.
You can delete your account at any time, from inside the app. It removes your vault, attachments, device registry and login verifier; backups follow within 14 days. There is nothing to cancel and nothing to pay.
If these terms change in a way that affects you, the apps show you the new version rather than swapping the page quietly. Each version carries its effective date, and the previous text stays in the site's public history.
German law applies, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
